Oracle Access Manager is an enterprise level solution from Oracle Corporation that centralizes critical access control services to provide an integrated solution that delivers authentication, authorization, web single sign-on, policy administration, enforcement agent management, session control, systems monitoring, reporting, logging, and auditing.
Single Sign-on enables users and/or group of users to access multiple applications after Authentication and Authorization. In case of OAM it provides access based on the URL patterns. So, an administrator can protect a resource on a web server, application server or any third party application using agents.
There are two types of agents supported in the OAM 11g as of now, webgate and mod_osso agent. These agents are the one which intercept the request of an end user and act as a filter for HTTP requests.
